12/2/11 Upcoming Show - Planet of the Abts - November 20, 2011

I'll be opening for Matt and the Planet of the Abts on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock NY...

Gov't Mule drummer Matt Abts and his side project Planet of the Abts will kick off their East Coast Invasion Tour at spectacular Showcase Live in Foxborough, MA on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. The Peacheaters, the endorsed and authentic Allman Brothers tribute band, will open the show in Foxborough and also at Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury, MA on Sunday, December 4! New England’s own Brendan Kelley Band will warm up the night at Tupelo Music Hall in White River Junction, VT on Thursday, December 1 with a set of original blues tunes. On Friday, December 2, the band hits the road to head out to Woodstock, NY to headline the renowned Bearsville Theater. On Monday, December 5 it’s back to Vermont for a performance at Higher Ground’s super cool Showcase Lounge. Concert-goers in Brooklyn are in for a treat as Corky Laing & The Memory Thieves open for Planet of the Abts at the Brooklyn Bowl on Tuesday, December 6. Corky is the drummer for Mountain, the popular 1960s band that released the hit “Mississippi Queen”. Matt and the boys will wrap up their East Coast Invasion Tour at hip Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ on Wednesday, December with special guest opener and award-winning Chicago blues artist Nick Moss. Blues artist Nick Moss is supporting POA at Mexicali Live in NJ. What a tour filled with fabulous musicians and great new music! Seats are limited for ALL shows and tickets are going fast, so be sure to purchase your tickets in advance.

The Bearsville Theater had been the brainchild of Albert Grossman, the music industry visionary and magnate whose stable included Peter, Paul & Mary, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band and Todd Rundgren. Years in the planning and building — using the region’s finest craftsmen — the theater was opened in 1989 by Albert’s widow, Sally Grossman.

Since then, the theater’s stage has been graced by the likes of Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Edward Albee’s Tony Award-winning Three Women, The Band, The Pretenders, Natalie Merchant, Pearl, Astrud Gilberto, Bela Fleck, Jimmy Cliff, Taj Majal, Richie Havens, Warren Zevon and Bruce Cockburn — to name just a few.

Strawbs Show, Showcase Live, Foxboro MA, 9/22/2010 - September 24, 2010

Hi Folks,

I had a blast at the show the other night.  The Strawbs were awesome.  Their harmonizing and guitar work is fantastic... and their songs are gorgeous, haunting even... I had a chance to talk to them before and after the gig, and they're pretty nice blokes too... Thanks to everybody who was able to make the trek out to the Patriot's Place Plaza in Foxboro MA on a Wednesday night!

The show was graciously recorded by Jeff at Showcase Live.  Below are links to the mp3s.  They sound great, so give them a listen.

Moving! - September 5, 2010

Alright... I finally finished the move to Newport!  Beautiful town... And I'm looking now to get things going here.  Hopefully, I'll be able to get some gigs here over the next few months, and for next summer.

And I'm psyched about the upcoming show at Showcase Live opening for the Strawbs.  The Strawbs were an awesome prog rock band formed in the late sixties... they did an album with Sandy Denny (who sang with Led Zeppelin on the 'Battle of Evermore', and with Fairport Convention who are also awesome), but the Strawbs really hit their stride in the Seventies on their own with a string of great albums like Bursting at the Seams and Hero and Heroine.

And they recently reunited and are touring as an acoustic act.  The band still totally rocks, and Dave Cousins' songwriting and singing is particularly astounding.  You can check out some of their new acoustic stuff on Youtube.

Videos... Videos... and more Videos... - March 9, 2010

Check out my new video page for some youtube videos of my performance at Showcase Live back in October!

My CD is now available! and Limelight Interview! - March 8, 2010

My album, Shades of Red is now currently available on CD.  Just click on the link in the left hand navigation bar to Buy My Album!

It's recently been nominated for two awards by Limelight Magazine: Best Album by a Solo Act (Indie) and Male Vocalist of the Year!  I've also put up an interview/article that was written by George Austin, the senior editor of the magazine, back in September.  So Check it Out!

Moving Things Around - February 13, 2009

Alright... I fixed the issue I was having with the song order.  Also, I was able to fix the issue I was having with the HiFi mp3s playing back in mono, which they shouldn't have been.

Also, I changed the Music page around, just a bit.  Now if you click on the 'Music' link on the left hand side, it'll bring you to an 'Album Index'.  From there you can click on each album title to go to that album's page to check out lyrics, or stream the songs individually, or download the songs where the option is available.

I think it works better that way... A little more feng shui... and it exhibits a certain, how you say, je ne sais quoi...

New songs added - February 9, 2009

I added the rest of the songs for the 'Shades of Red' album. They're currently not in the right order, but I'll fix that soon. Now I just have to get through the whole organization of pictures project I've taken upon myself...

Flash Music Player - February 5, 2009

Also, I added an embedded Flash Music Player at the bottom of the page, so you should be able to listen to the music I have on the site while you're surfing. It doesn't autostart, cause I can't stand it when you go to a web page and music starts blasting out of your speakers when you're least expecting it... But if you'd like to listen, be my guest.

More Songs Added - February 5, 2009

Alright... A few more updates... I added a few live shows that I have recorded to the Music page.

The first is at a Christmas party thrown by my friend, Erron Geer, on December 20th, 2008. It features me along with a few friends and was recorded at the end of the night. It consists of a few originals and a couple covers.

The other is from Sweet William Farm in Upton, MA. It's a mostly solo acoustic set at a nice little intimate gathering during their Third Annual Music Fest on September 13th, 2008. I'll be playing their again on one of their Friday Night 'Sweet Summer Nights' on June 5th, 2009, and hopefully again at their Fourth Annual Music Fest, if they have one.

There are more details about who's playing what on each of the tracks on the Music Page, so go check them out.

New Website Design - February 4, 2009

I'm going to use this space for now to note any updates I make to the site...

This site is still very much under construction. But Hostbaby has been great in helping me get it set up. Feel free to take a look around, and listen to the few tracks I have on the Music page. Eventually, this site will be here for myself and another great singer/songwriter, the lovely Kate Yack, who has an amazing and very expressive voice as well as a true gift for bringing her emotions to the forefront of your imagination. But for now, I'm still working on getting this site together...

Keep checking back often, as I'll be continually adding songs and photos updating what I can, when I can...
